Lights...they say so much! They exude warmth and security. They can
completely change a space! I have always loved porches, specifically
porch lights. A porch is a gathering space and a place to
build relationships. The twinkle of porch light in the dark of night
is welcoming. On those long summer nights, it says stop by, pull up a
chair, and chat. Under the glow of a porch light, relationships grow.
Turning on a porch light is a deliberate act, a conscious decision.
Leaving the light on is an act of caring about the people coming. When I
was coming home late at night as a teenager, my parents always kept the
lights on for me. It was comforting and gave me a sense of security in
the darkness. As I think about our new home and life, I want us to be
welcoming to all the new experiences and people. I also want us to
remember all those relationships that were built under the glow of a
porch light. Our lights will always be on!
